Many classes of pharmacological agents are currently being utilized by clinician's to help manage Crohn's disease. However, typical medical therapy, including agents such as aminosalicylates, corticosteroids and immunomodulators, do not completely control the disease in many patients and are often associated with various side effects. Thus, newer approaches to therapy represent a significant advance for healthcare providers involved in the diagnosis and management of Crohn's disease.
