Evolving Aspects of Colorectal Carcinoma

Purpose
|
|
This program will update gastroenterologists about the latest techniques for discovering adenomas in an effort to improve the overall prognosis of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
|

Program Overview
|
|
Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed carcinomas in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States and North America. It is probably the most preventable form of cancer because it begins as premalignant adenoma. If these adenomas are detected early and removed many cases of colorectal cancer can be prevented.

Audience

|
This program has been specifically developed to update and educate gastroenterologists and primary care physicians who provide care for people with gastrointestinal disease.

Learning Objectives
|
Following completion of this CME activity, participants should be better able to:
- Identify the current screening recommendations and preventive strategies for colorectal cancer
- Understand the environmental and genetic factors that are linked to colorectal cancer
- Recognize the strengths and limitationsof various diagnostic procedures for colorectal cancer
- Explain the various strategies for treating colorectal cancer.
